On October 6, 2023, a partnership between the Erie Western PA Port Authority & The Erie County Redevelopment Authority (ECRDA) was formed at a joint meeting of the Board of Directors to investigate the potential acquisition and environmental cleanup of the former Erie Coke Corporation property. On May 15, 2024, the Erie Western PA Port Authority became the owner of the property.
Two public input sessions were held in February 2025 to provide input on the future plans for the former Erie Coke site.
