Tina Mengine Receives Dr. King Woman of Influence Award

13th Annual Dr. King Awards Dinner hosted by the Martin Luther King Center of Erie

The Erie County Redevelopment Authority Board of Directors is pleased to share that at the 13th Annual Dr. King Awards Dinner hosted by the Martin Luther King Center of Erie, Tina Mengine, President & CEO of the Erie County Redevelopment Authority (ECRDA) was honored with the Women of Influence Award, along with several other deserving women.

"Tina's commitment to building an agency that serves and benefits all members of our community has been steadfast since day one and we couldn't be prouder of her work," said Kate Phillips, Chair of the ECRDA Board of Directors. "She implemented a Diversity Loan Fund almost immediately, has worked tirelessly to ensure that disadbantaged neighborhoods that have been negatively impacted by years of disinvestment, environmental issues, and other challenges, are being addressed and getting their fair share of funding and attention.

"Her work with the Minority Community Investment Coalition and Savocchio Opportunity park is unrivaled."

Other award recipients from the dinner included:

  • The Reverend Dr. King and Coretta Scott King Award: Rubye Jenkins Husband
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Dr. Armendia Pierce Dixon
  • Woman of Influence Award Recipients: Tina Mengine; Gwen White; Adrienne Dixon; Cheryl Rush Dix; Daria Devlin; Pam Forsyth

"I am truly humbled to be recognized by the MLK Center and to be among such stellar women who have given so much to our community - it's a true honor," Mengine said. "There has been so much talk of equity and social justice of late, but the investment has not always matched the talk.

"I want our work to reflect what we believe, of what I have always believed, that each of us deserves to be empowered, an opportunity to be lifted up to our full potential, and each neighborhood and project should be given the same consideration and evaluation regardless of its address."

Mengine has served as CEO of the ECRDA since 2019.
